These spiral wing structures are mathematical Cornucopias I think. They would wind around the whole body making one big spring so that force would be spread out evenly to every muscle in the body. They could also fold back along the arms and over the back.
Rather than making these wings out of two materials, one springy and one light, they should be made out of one material that densest around the cornucopia line and fades in density inbetween the lines to create a curved surface.
Wings not Wheels. Wheels are like Republicans, they try to deny that friction exists. Wings are like Democrats, they think you should have a little friction with everybody.
